The Month of September has only one film to review that film is "The Visit" Starring Olivia DeJonge, Ed Oxenbould and Kathryn Hahn.
Plot
"A single mother finds that things in her family's life go very wrong after her two young children visit their grandparents".
My Thoughts
I have seen a my fair share of .Night Shyamalan movies and for the most part, I didn't enjoy many of them (especially the last airbender). When I first saw the trailer for this film I wasn't sure what to think, Now after seeing the film I can say that it was worth a watch and I can say it was decent. The cast of the film is relativity unknown ( Kathryn Hahn was the only cast member I recognized). for me having an unknown cast is not a bad thing, I look at it like this an unknown actor usually will try even p to make an impression on the viewer as they want to be noticed. The acting overall was passable the child actors (Ed Oxenbould and Olivia DeJonge) did a really god job portraying two young kids who are visiting there grandparents fore the first time in there lives and adjusting to meeting them and staying with them for two weeks, I felt that the way these two actors portrayed both roles was very believable considering the trying situations they are put in in the film. The plot of this film was paced well and flowed well together for a rather fast paced movie that I enjoyed. A hallmark for M.Night Shyamalan movies is a twist that throws the viewer for a loop and this film was no different it had a twist that I didn't see coming but once it happened It made sense and kept the plot believable. My biggest gripe with this film was that it did have its moments where what was happening on screen did not make any sense to me as a viewer, some of the scenes in the film felt like time filler and a waste of screen time, for a film that was 100 minutes long the movie did feel a tad big long for how the movie played out it could have been shorter and achieved the same effect. Rotten Tomatoes gave this film a 61% saying "The Visit provides horror fans with a satisfying blend of thrills and
laughs -- and also signals a welcome return to form for writer-director
M. Night Shyamalan". I agree that this was a much better film from M.Night Shyamalan in the past 10 years for me, and as I mentioned earlier this film was decent and I would recommend to watch at least once, nothing great but decent.
Rating
Best Film I have seen from M.Night Shyamalan in recent memory, worth watching at least once. 6.9/10!!!!
